The first game of regular season happened at 7PM on Friday October 9th, the wild faced the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise center. Starting off the first period strong with no penalties, Ryan Hartman and Matt Boldy scored the first 2 goals of the game, giving us a 2-0 lead to start our season. The second period of the game just kept going up for us with Hartman and Ericksson Ek scoring 2 more goals putting us up 4-0. We did however get 2 penalties this period with Jiricek getting hooking and Hinostroza getting slashing. We just kept progressing forward, during the third period we had no penalties and Marco Rossi scored the last goal of the game making the final score 5-0. Ending our first game with Filip Gustavsson getting his 12th NHL shutout puts us at an amazing start to the season. Giving a small summary Ryan Hartman scored twice, Matt Boldy once and Marco Rossi once. Kirill Kaprizov got 3 assists, with Matt Boldy getting 2 and Yakov Trenin, Marco Rossi and Marcus Johansson getting one. We had a face-off win percentage of 53.7 and only 4 penalty minutes. What a great start to the season!

Wild VS Blue Jackets

on October 11th, at 7pm the Wild had their first home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. We started out the first period letting one shot go into the net and ending 0-1 with no penalties. Going into the second period we started to do a bit better getting 2 goals scored by Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov, but the Blue Jackets were able to match us also getting 2 more goals, putting the score at 2-3. We only got one penalty against Jake Middleton for holding his stick against an oppossing player. The third period Kirill Kaprizov got his second goal of the game and Zeev Buium got his first NHL goal! But we were still behind and after trying our best and emptying our net the final score ended at 7-4. That period also got us 2 more minor penalties. One on Jake middleton for holding and the second on Joel Eriksson Ek for tripping.

A‍dding my own opinion to this game, after watching up close and in person I think if we had better refs we could have kept the score at least a bit closer. I feel there were a couple calls that were missed and a couple power play oportunities missed because of it. During one point, a player on the opposing team had Ek in a head lock which I believe should have been called. There were also a couple tripping incidents that were missed, but the big one was the head lock.

Wild VS Kings

On October 13th, at 7pm we had our second home game against the Los Angeles Kings. Starting out strong in the first period we ended with the score being 0-3 thanks to Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy and our captian Jared Spurgeon. We were also to keep it a clean game and stay out of the box, with the kings getting 3 penalties in that period. Moving onto the second, we were able to keep our lead, keeping the score 0-3. We ended up getting Marcus Foligno sent to the box for holding, but the other team also got a penalty. In the third period the Kings were able to tie is up leaving us to go into overtime with a 3-3 score. Marcus Johansson was also sent to the box for tripping in this period. Going into overtime we kept it tied up and put us into a shootout. During overtime we did have to be on the more deffensive side of things because Matt Boldy got a penalty for slashing. Going into the shootout things were tense, but Marco Rossi was able to get one in the back of the net putting us up. Jesper Wallstedt was able to keep good watch on the puck and made the final game givning us the SO victory!

‍I was also able to get a close look at this game in person and I feel that we played really well and that we kept good control of the puck and were able to maintain good offense and deffense. I do feel like we got a little sloppy in the third period giving up the 3 goals, but we were able to redeem ourselves. Overtime was very tense because of the Kings getting the power play and the shootout only made it worse after multiple players on each team were unable to get one in the back of the net.

Wild VS Stars

O‍n October 14th, at 8pm, the Wild had their first encounter with the Dallas Stars for a regular season game. The first period ended in a score of 0-2 with Ryan Hartman getting interference and Joel Eriksson Ek getting a tripping call. Starting off not too great we enter the second period, we manage to stay out of the penalty box, but we got scored on again leaving us at a further disadvantage of 0-3. In the third period we were able to get on the board with both Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov scoring, but it sadly wasn't enough and the Stars were able to match our goals giving us an ending score of 5-2. Early in the third period Matt Duchene was hit up high by Defensemen Jake Middleton causing both him and a player on the other team to get major penalties for fighting. Stars player, Alexander Petrovic got an additional penalty for instigating.

P‍ersonally I feel the Wild were not playing at their best during this game and we were not able to maintain puck control or able to match Dallas at either their offensive or defensive power. I also feel like it was not the best game for Filip Gustavsson and he was unable to keep track of where the puck was going. I also feel like we need to stay focused more and work on being aggresive if we are gonna beat Dallas in the future. This team seems like they are gonna continue to be a bit of a struggle for the Wild to keep up with.
